Biography

Anna Quindlen is a liberal American journalist, novelist and opinion columnist whose New York Times column, "Public and Private", won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in 1992. She currently writes for Newsweek, where her column appears every other week. She is known as a critic of what she perceives to be the fast-paced and increasingly materialistic nature of modern American life.
She is a 1974 graduate of Barnard College, part of Columbia University in New York City. She has also served as a Barnard trustee since 1983.
