I always knew I'd be in music in some sort of capacity. I didn't know if I'd be successful at it, but I knew I'd be doing something in it. Maybe get a job in a record store. Maybe even play in a band. I never got into this to be a star.

I ate a big steak in 1988 and never felt worse. That was it, boom, over. Never again.

I got in trouble with the police, and that was a rude awakening. That was it. I'd seen the bottom of the pit, and it was time to scrape myself out of it.

I only write music for myself, I don't try and appeal to anyone else.

I'm not completely vegan, I will accept tiny amounts of butter and I normally scrape off cheese when it's on top of pasta or something ... I completely stopped eating dead creatures in 1989.

Biography

Bryan Adams, OC, OBC (born November 5, 1959) is a successful Canadian singer and songwriter. He was born in Kingston, Ontario to British parents, and moved with them throughout Europe and the Middle East.

Adams met drummer Jim Vallance in 1977 and the two began collaborating as songwriters, and before long their material was being covered by many artists. A&M Records was sent some demos and signed Adams to a recording contract at age 18 for $1. His most famous song is "Summer of 69".

He has released 14 albums since then.

In 1990 he joined many other guests (including Michael Kamen) for Roger Waters' massive performance of The Wall in Berlin. Apart from that he is engaged in many charity projects like Greenpeace's "Saving the Whales" or Amnesty International. He recently joined Canada's benefit concert for the tsunami victims.

One of his most popular success was the album Waking Up the Neighbours in 1991 (see 1991 in music), produced by Mutt Lange and featuring the ballad "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" from the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. This song was a huge #1 hit around the world. Other soundtrack songs were "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?" from Don Juan de Marco; and "All For Love" from The Three Musketeers, performed with Rod Stewart and Sting. Adams has been nominated for three Academy Awards.

His musical career also includes several collaborations and duets, e.g. with Tina Turner in "It's Only Love", Sarah McLachlan in "Don't Let Go", Mel C in "When you're Gone", Chicane in "Don't Give Up", and the aforementioned collaboration on "All For Love".

He has been inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame. In 1990 he was made a Member of the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia. In 1998 he was promoted to an Officer of the Order of Canada.

His latest album, Room Service was released on September 20, 2004 with "Open Road" being its first single. The second single "Flying" is a typical Bryan Adams ballad. The third and less known single is "Room Service", the title track. This song earned a little bit of air time in Canada as a typical, fun Bryan Adams rock hit.

He is currently working on an acoustic album while touring. A live DVD (possibly called "Live in Lisbon") is expected for September 2005.

Adams is a talented photographer. A photograph that he took of Queen Elizabeth II during the Party at the Palace was used as a Canadian postage stamp in 2004.
He has recently done a photo book for Calvin Klein called American Women.

He lives in Chelsea, London, UK.

He is not to be confused with professional wrestler Bryan "Crush" Adams of Kronik fame in WCW.
