Popularity: -2 Vote: | Guitar players in the nineties seem to be reacting against the technique oriented eighties. |
Popularity: -3 Vote: | I didn't want to fall into the trap of competing with all these other great guitar players. I just want to sidestep the whole thing and get out of the race. |
Popularity: 2 Vote: | I don't think success has changed us as people at all. We are the same lunatics that we were when this band first got going. We never see ourselves as being on a higher level than our fans. |
Popularity: 2 Vote: | I love this pedal to death. The only way you could keep me from playing one is by chopping off my legs! |
Popularity: 1 Vote: | I would have to say I'm bored with the standard rock, guitar solos, but I've done it for five albums now, and this time I wanted to go in a completely different direction. I wasn't interested in showing off any more. |
Popularity: -2 Vote: | I'm death obsessed. You know, I have death all over my house. I have a stuffed two headed sheep! |
Popularity: 3 Vote: | I'm not into that whole Satanic thing. It's just something to fall back on if you don't have much imagination. Singing your fiftieth song about having lunch with Satan - I'm not into it. It's silly. |
Popularity: 3 Vote: | I'm very fortunate to be doing the thing I do best, which is play guitar. There aren't many other things I could do. |
Popularity: -2 Vote: | Just because you know umpteen billion scales, it doesn't mean you have to use them all in a solo. |
Popularity: 2 Vote: | My guitars are my umbilical cord. They're directly wired into my head. |
Popularity: -1 Vote: | We wanted to offer something new to our audience. I hate it when bands stop taking chances. |
Popularity: -2 Vote: | We're the underdogs. We haven't had a top ten hit, and we look like a bunch of bums out there. Amidst all this glam, and this huge production, we're going to stick it out. But that's what we're here for - and that's what put us here in the first place. |

Biography
|
Kirk Hammett (born November 18, 1962 in San Francisco, California, USA) is the lead guitarist in heavy metal group Metallica.
Biography Hammett was born to a Filipino mother and a Merchant Seaman father. He learned how to play the guitar at age 15. He received his formal training from guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani in Berkeley, CA. Hammett later joined Metallica in 1983 (replacing former Metallica guitarist and Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine) having previously been in the band Exodus. His lead guitar playing is regarded by some as being more varied than his heavy metal contemporaries, while others regard him as little more than a pentatonic player. In 2002, he was the first inductee into Guitar World magazine's "Hall of Fame." He has toured with Metallica for more than 20 years and is a role model for many modern guitarists. Despite his significant musical abilities he didn't write his first riff for Metallica until 1990. His first effort, Enter Sandman, was written in a hotel room at 3:00 am, and became perhaps Metallica's best recognized song. It was the first track and single on Metallica's self-titled breakout album and was ranked 399th on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.
