I think being mean to people in high school is healthy. It's sort of like you're in this situation with all these other kids and sometimes you need to get your aggression out. And if you'd had people be mean to you before, it really does build character.

Biography

Elizabeth Caplan (born June 30, 1982), better known as Lizzy Caplan, is a noted actress from Los Angeles, California. Although she was already an experienced actress, she gained much notice in the 2004 movie Mean Girls.

In "Mean Girls", she plays a tomboy girl named after a lesbian singer and songwriter, Janis Ian. Caplan's character has been compared to that of Nancy McKeon in The Facts of Life, ("Joe").

Caplan began her television acting career on September 25, 1999, when she participated as Sarah on the "Freaks and Geeks" series, a television show which was geared towards teenagers. She would have a series of guest appearances at other shows, and she was spotted once hanging with Sharon Osbourne on her talk show. Another of her major television characters came on Smallville, a series about teenaged Superman. She debuted on that show on November 6, 2001, playing "freak of the week" Tina Greer on the episode X-Ray. She reprised her role on the show on January 14, 2003, in the episode Visage.

In 2003, she starred in the television series "The Pitts", playing the recurring role of "Faith Pitt".

Caplan is currently filming a leading role in a one-hour pilot for the WB.
