Biography

Mike Farrell (born February 6, 1939) is an American actor, best known for his role as Captain B.J. Hunnicutt from 1975 until 1983 on the television series M*A*S*H. More recently, Farrell starred on the television series Providence.
Farrell was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. When he was two years old, his family moved to Hollywood, California, where his father worked as a movie studio carpenter. Farrell graduated from Hollywood High School, served in the United States Marine Corps, and worked at various jobs before his acting career. While appearing on M*A*S*H, he also wrote and directed several episodes of the series.
Even before he was well known, Farrell was an activist on political causes. He has worked with Human Rights Watch, supported long-term efforts to end homelessness and hunger, and opposed capital punishment. He has also been involved in some issues local to the Los Angeles region, including the grocery workers' union strikes in 2003-2004,
On December 31, 1984, he married actress Shelley Fabares.
