Biography

Sibel Edmonds is a former FBI translator who was fired in March, 2002, after she complained to FBI managers about another interpreter who, she thought, might have been a danger to the United States' security.

Litigation in response to retaliation


In July, 2002, Ms. Edmonds filed suit against the FBI, alleging wrongful termination in retaliation for reporting criminal activities committed by government officials and employees. Eventually, in 2004, Edmonds was granted a trial, in which she anticipated her wrongful termination complaint would be heard. On May 6, 2005, in the hours before the hearing of her case, three Republican judges issued a ruling that barred all reporters and the public from the courtroom. During the proceedings, Sibel was not allowed into the courtroom for the hearing. Afterwards, when her case was dismissed, no reason was provided, and no opinion cited.
